Enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year will open on July 2, 2018, at 12 noon. The Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are one year program at St. Therese. Children generally receive their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion during their 2nd Grade school year. The program is set up to provide children with the understanding of what they will be receiving, as well as the basic beliefs and prayers of the Catholic Church. The additional Sacramental fees include extra materials needed for class, along with the time and effort to maintain our ever-growing program. If your child is in 3rd-5th Grade or 6th-7th Grade and has not received First Reconciliation and First Communion, they must sign up for the correct class for their age group so that they will be provided with the age-appropriate material.
This 2018-19 school year we will be transitioning to a new end of year format to better incorporate the children and families into the parish life here at St. Therese. The children who will be making their First Holy Communion will be doing so at regular Sunday Masses, which may begin as soon as their classroom preparation has been completed in mid-May, and on the Sundays of the month of June as well. Parents will sign their children up on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS for the Mass of their choice. Sign Ups will commence mid-October as soon as the rosters have been finalized
Part of Receiving Holy Communion involves being united to the Worshipping Community during Mass with our fellow Parishioners for the first time and we look forward to this being a joyful and happy occasion for the ENTIRE Parish Family of St. Therese at Sunday Mass.
Please also see what constitutes being an Active-Participating-Parishioner of St. Therese de Lisieux Catholic Church.
What is “Active Participating Parishioner” status?
We receive many requests from Parishioners to be Godparents or Sponsors for the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation and to rightfully enjoy the number of services offered at St. Therese de Lisieux Catholic Church. (Including the privilege of Enrolling your children in our Faith Formation Program, which exists FOR the children of our MEMBER FAMILIES.) Part of these requests involves being able to subjectively verify that a Family/Household are “Active Participating Parishioners” and Members of St. Therese Parish.
An “Active Participating Member Parishioner” is:
- A Family/Household is properly REGISTERED AS A MEMBER of the Parish;
- Faithfully attends Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation;
- Participates in Parish Activities and Service Ministries when possible;
- Uses Member Offertory-Envelopes, or the Online Giving System for their weekly stewardship and support.
These are the factors that are used in order to verify and determine if a Family/Household are ACTIVE PARTICIPATING MEMBERS of this Parish. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
